Stoppard Fest- Winnipeg 2007

We are excited about Stoppard since he is still alive and more relevant then last years choice Eugene O'Neil. However, our first play was not the best introduction to the fest.
The review is in order of the plays watched:

The Dog it was that died- this was basically a radio show play (if that makes sense). It's horribly boring, and felt like we were unwillingly transported to the early 20Th century. The play was confusing, the sound effects where so loud and constant that I left having a minor headache. It was strange I found myself tuning out of the dialogue and watching the other actors make the various sound effects. The only semi-complement is for the very talented actors who stayed awake through this extremely boring play.

After Magritte - This play was short and sweet. In fact, the play ran only 45 minutes, however felt longer then it was. It was a funny play and wonderfully acted. Left us very interested in watching the rest of the Stoppard fest.

The Real thing - This was a two and a half hour play and it felt like it went by too fast. I enjoyed the play and the incredible actors. Brilliant script and excellent set made this piece stand out. Bravo.
